Wedding</strong></h1> <p>Having children that are picky eaters makes attending catered events, such as weddings, tricky. Proper etiquette is important if you want to bring along your own food to someone else’s wedding, since a large portion of their budget will be spent on catering the event. Ask the bride and groom if they mind you bringing your own food for your children. They probably will not care. Let the happy couple know as soon as possible after submitting your RSVP so they can adjust their catering order accordingly.</p> <p>Once you get the bride and groom’s approval to bring your own food, plan out your menu. Ideally the food you will bring with you should not need to be heated. Choose food that can be served at room temperature or be kept cool in an insulated lunch bag. Aim for options that are not messy, and of course choose something fun and tasty. Odds are that your little ones will not be saying “No” to a piece of the wedding cake, so feed them a lot of their favorite healthy foods beforehand.</p> <p>Pack up small baggies of your children’s favorite raw veggies, a sandwich, crackers and cereal. Bring more food than you think they could possibly want, and a big variety. If you don’t use it up at the wedding, it will still be good later on, which is very helpful if you have traveled out of town and are staying in a hotel. Pack some Teddy Grahams or other small, quiet treats in case your little ones need a little something to tide them over during the actual wedding ceremony. Bring a few juice boxes and water in case the only beverage choices offered are punch, soft drinks and alcohol.</p> <p>Typical weddings have a pretty decent break between when the ceremony ends and the reception actually starts. This is a great opportunity to try to feed your children real food before the reception starts if other guests are already nibbling. To avoid having your children feeling left out while other guests are eating, or children of other guests getting jealous of the food that you have brought along, try to keep your little ones at your own table until they are done eating. No running around with a bag of peanut butter crackers making other kids cry!</p> <p>Do you have any additional advice for helping to feed picky children at a wedding?
